First Pizza with homemade sauce and crust

First Pizza with homemade sauce and crust

I maybe single but I still like good food, so I am on a search for recipes that will make enough for just me and not leave leftovers that I have to eat all week.

My First try at small pizza crust.

1 cup flour
1/4 tea. Salt
1/4 tea. Sugar

1 tea yeast mixed with 1/3 cup warm water. Let set 5 minutes.
2 tea Olive Oil. In with water .

Mix in processor till forms ball.

Flour the counter and knead dough for 1 minute.

Put in grease boil and set in a warm place until double.

So the recipe suggest.

But I am hungry so I will let it rise till I get the toppings ready.

Tonight I am using a sausage patty, two strips of crispy bacon, bell pepper and black olives my homemade sauce and cheese.

I am heating the oven to 500 while I prepare toppings.

Baked the pizza at 400 for 25 minutes.

The dough rolled out easy and just fit my small cast iron skillet.

I used about three tablespoons of sauce in a 9in skillet. I think next time I need more, the sauce got lost in the toppings.

The crust baked up well, it was soft and chewy. Not crusty on the bottom like in a pizzeria but my search on the internet said that they use a much hotter oven then the home oven. It was a pretty good crust though.

I may try this one again.

Thomas Cook Airlines (Condor) Boeing 757-330 D-ABOE (22472)

Thomas Cook Airlines (Condor) Boeing 757-330 D-ABOE is on short final for runway 25R.

c/n 29012 has had its first flight on 08.01.99 with the test registration N1012N and was delivered to Condor on 10.03.99. It was transferred to Thomas Cook Airlines in July 2002.

Have you ever been inside a 753? It is simply too long for a single aisle airliner. Try to get off the aircraft when you were placed in one of the rows at the tail...it takes some time!

Ball Games

Ball Games

Once a year, the girls of St. Rodrigue compete with other schools in Ball Games. These games being volleyball, net ball (shown here), and soccer. They practice every week after school for the first two months and every day after school for the last few weeks of training, trying to cram in as much sports learning as they can! This year, the games were held in Motsekua, about a 2 hour drive from St. Rodrigue. Girls who wished to come along and support the teams paid a small fee, and teachers signed up to take care of all of them. We piled into Laduma, our local, friendly bus, girls sharing seats and laps, each with their own suitcase that was filled to the brim with their blanket, a thin film of steam coating the inside of the windows and the roof piled high with foam matresses, cooking stoves, basins, and gigantic aluminum pots. The singing began before we even left Mbataan (where the bus sleeps), and didn't end unti the girls were safely back in their hostel beds three days later.

portrait of a working bush kitchen, 2008

my friend bear lives on 40 acres outside of moruya on the south coast of nsw.

this is her house.

this is her kitchen.

every night, we cook up a storm with the food she has grown in her garden - a jungle of vegies and fruit - on this ace little gas stove. everything tastes so good on it.

bear has lived on the land forever pretty much. she finds the city hard. the air is no good for her. she was a world champion welterweight boxer in the early 80s.

she is pretty much a legend and she lives here and whenever i go there, i have the best adventures ever. every morning i wake up to kangaroos and horses and a warm fire. in the afternoon there's swimming in the river and walks and wombats and planning dinner and collecting the food for it. and then playing scrabble. when the sun goes down, we light the fire and listen to the radio or tell stories and sing.

that is how life is on the land without electricity or running water in australia in 2008 for a bushie. bear is a honorable and wonderful woman. i have learned much from her.
